Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

While under the car I noticed there were two bolts missing on the underside of one of the muffler brackets. In looking at a couple parts diagrams, it appears it was not added to the drawing. The upper bolts are there, #19, but do not see ones for the lower part of the bracket. As the diagram says 4 of #19 is required, and it shows #19 for both brackets, I had assumed that there are two #19 required for each bracket (for a total of 4) to mount the tops. But what about the bottom? OR does it mean that 4 are required per side and that #19s would also be put in the bottom? Thanks!

POST 2Original post

There are two on top and two on the bottom for a total of 4 for each side

Thanks. If you are saying that the top and bottom bolts are all the same, then I am surprised the Porsche PET wouldn't show a qty of 8 rather than 4.

POST 4Original post

#19, two bolts at the top of the bracket, no bolts on the lower side Check it out here #19 quantity 4 - http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p...section=202-00

Joe, are you saying there shouldn't be bolts on the bottom? Cause on one side I do have bolts.

No, no, this is wrong. There are bolts at the bottom too that go into the head. Going from memory so I could be wrong but I think they are the same as the top ones #19.

POST 7Original post

Okay, I'm wrong. Admit never been there. Why not pull one of the bottom bolts and see what size it is?

POST 8Original post

If memory serves me, they are #19 all the same, 4 per side... Of course, just pull them out and check...

POST 9Original post

Upper bolts longer than lower.I will post pics later and dimensions.

Damn it, well there goes $1.62 that could have been put to gaining more HP... guess they'll just be added to the collection of other random Porsche hardware I have amassed over the years. Thank you for the help.

Be creative and put some washers under it to fit.

POST 13Original post

All is not lost...thread a correct pitch and thread nut on bolt that you bought down towards the head.Cut to the proper length with a hacksaw(fine tooth blade works the best).Using a file or a grinding wheel chamfer the cut edge.Remove nut(acts as an in expensive die). Done.

I really need to start thinking about putting my engine back together...

Appreciate the suggestions. I was being a bit sarcastic in my original reply.
