Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm down to the short strokes on putting the motor back in my car. I have two connector questions and would appreciate any help. 1) The AC compressor has a very long single wire and male spade connector that goes into a single, standalone female connector and shield (see photo) I've tied the wire for the moment so it doesn't get bent or pulled. I can't for the life of me remember where that gets routed so it doesn't flop around. I can just tie it up I suppose, but there must be some place for it and I didn't take a pic. 2) The two big main motor connectors on the right side of the engine bay have a jacket that isn't "sealed". Take a look at the gap on the connector covering in the photo--it's behind the ac line. Is that possibly right? I'm going to electrical tape it up to keep water out but thought I'd ask. What's up with that? Thanks, Tom

POST 2Original post

My a/c line is tucked between the power steering pump and the a/c compressor. Be careful not to pinch it when installing the compressor though. The slit on the engine connector is normal. Yeah I also don't get it why there's a slit.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The compressor is already in and tightened up. (what a pita that back bolt is, as you know). Hmmm. I doubt I can get it to it's original spot at this point without pulling the AC compressor out but I'll look to see. Anyone else re-route the connector or have a suggestion?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I fastened the ac compressor connector to the ac hose to get it out of harms way--see photo. Zip tie at the connector cover and friction tape like many other wire bundles. Didn't want to bend the darn wire around and wrestle it under the compressor. Anyone see a problem with that? --I really don't know if the hose gets really hot, for example. Thanks, Tom
