Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey all, I've had my 2002 C2 Cab for a few weeks now and am getting used to driving an amazing analog machine. One thing I can't figure out is a sound that happens about every 30 seconds, coming from the middle/center of the center console. It sounds like the car is taking two breaths, each about a second apart. Sounds is similar to when you smash down on the brake pedal. Happens whether climate control is on/off. Any ideas?

Turn off the a/c completely drive around and see if it goes and comes back

It happens after startup on idle with no AC. Also happens after turning AC off, but maybe slightly less frequently. J

Too bad there's not a lot of room to run in a 911!

POST 9Original post

Do the cabs have any kind of top operating equipment in that area? I've had the console out of my targa and there is nothing like a vacuum line under there. My thought is that the sound is coming from further back. Perhaps the shift cable grommet is not in great shape and letting sounds come through from the engine bay, or perhaps it is something with the top mechanism. Or it's haunted.

Great, now I have to find an independent Porsche exorcist... No cabrio stuff up front - that's all in the back and sides. I will try to isolate the sound better.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I figured it out. It's the CD player looking for a disc. I happened to have the navigation CD, so I popped it in and the sound stopped. Although, I can't seem to enable the navigation - I might have to crack the manual folks.
