I have a 1999 C2 and am locked out of stereo and nav due to having the wrong codes. I have PCM and Nav codes that were obtained from a dealer by a mechanic who pulled the unit, photographed the serial number, sent it to dealer and received two codes: PCM: 0939 Nav: 0253 I enter the PCM code and but just come back to the Enter the Code! prompt after clicking 'OK'. I've tried various combinations, incrementing and decrementing the code for about 10 numbers. I'd like to get the PCM serial number and try to get proper codes. 1. Can I get the serial number without removing the unit? 2. What is the procedure for pulling the unit out. Thanks in advance Axelray

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

With your VIN you should be able to call 1-800-PORSCHE (or have a dealer do it) and they can provide the codes...assuming the electronics are original and not replaced along the way. It sounds like your units may have been replaced at some point, and you may need Porsche to track the history of service to find out who and when, to get the right codes.
You might try posting this on RennTech.org and ask Loren...he has solved this problem for many others.

Thanks - but we can not help with NAV codes - only dealers can help there. We can however help with radio codes.
The surest way to get correct codes is to have the serial #'s from the units. The units will have to be removed to retrieve them. May units are swapped out upon delivery and the VIN is not a 100% accurate way of retrieval.
