Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I recently bought a 2002 996 Cab with 38,000 miles. When going through the option codes I found that it was eqipped with a "touring" suspension. I'm under the impression that this was an accommodation to US roads and that it increases ground clearance. Can anybody tell me what the difference is to European cars and what parts are involved in conversion to Euro specs.?

This Is the ROW suspension. Great upgrade. I did this to my 2002 cab. Carrera Suspension Kits - ROW M030 2002-05 Code: 996ROWM0302002 http://www.suncoastparts.com/product...=996Suspension

The Touring suspension is the softest stock suspension you can get. Height is the same as other us suspensions but is more cushy. This fits well for those that want to slap on 17" wheels and get the "full" leather interior to mimic a Lexus in both ride and feel.

Not quite. The touring suspension M032 is the North American suspension and has a bit higher ride height. The M030 or the Rest of World Suspension does lower the ride height enough to help remove the "float" many 996 owners deal with at highway speeds. You can thank the NHTSA for the M032 suspension. Fortunately, as Chris996 mentioned, you can remedy the situation for $1400 plus installation costs or do it yourself.

POST 5Original post

The C4S has the M032 touring suspension and I actually like it. The ride while cruising is comfortable but not at all what I would consider "cushy" and I don't have the float many speak of even when cruising near mid triple digits. The C2 has the US M030 and while I really like the handling the ride does get a tad annoying during long distance road trips, and no float issues with this car. So the C4S has become our road trip car and the C2 is more of my fast and fun DD.

Wrong. No where did op mention "MO32" which is the US sports suspension version. The US version came in Touring and M032(sports suspension version) and both US suspensions had same ride height(US ride height).

POST 7Original post

Confused... So, C4S has the M032 suspension as standard which is the US sport suspension?

Sorry sport. The M032 option on U.S. cars is the touring suspension. Look it up. The U.S. M030 is the sport suspension that came on the 40AE and as an option on others. Both the M032 and M030 U.S. suspensions are the same height as you mentioned The ROW M030 lowers the ride height of U.S. suspension cars. http://www.suncoastparts.com/product...=996Suspension

Somehow, I got M032 mixed up with M030 as "M" usually gets referenced with the optional sport version. Yes you are correct. However, your statements on ride height seems to be a bit ambiguous.

That would have been a great deal! Sorry guys, after seeing this, I had to check, and that price hadn't gotten the most recent update. The correct price is $1570.26. The last thing I want is for someone to place an order and then get a call from our Customer Service department asking for more money!
