Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just finished installing my Fister Ds. Car now sounds as good as it feels!

POST 2Original post

It certainly is a dramatic improvement over the stock system. Mine appears to be less restrictive at and above 3,000rpm, which might be the threshold when exhaust gases exit through the bypass pipe more readily than the muffler. Anyone with a fluid dynamics background could support or repute my theory. Regardless, I love the sound and the lack of drone at idle is great.

POST 3Original post

I so want to do this. vwillo1 - which option did you choose? Core exchange, Buy outright or send in your mufflers? Any tips on the install? I see this mod in my future but might wait until the winter time and send in my mufflers.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just back from another drive, man I love the sound. I did the exchange, sending mine back. Soak everything well in PB Blaster for a few days and be prepared for some bolts to break. Not a big issue, took my cans off day before so I knew what to get before install. I have an 01 so broke all 4 cat to muffler bolts and the two short mounting bracket to muffler bolts. Exact size replacements, $10 for new at Westlakes. Pay attention to the position of the exhaust tips, and I would buy a new set of tip to muffler clamps. I broke one and just got a new bolt. I'm a T5 paraplegic and give it a 2/5 on DYI scale if you like working on your own car.

OK, I'm going to get a freakin ticket! I can't quit grinning, I'm low on gas and my cheeks hurt.

POST 6Original post

Glad you are enjoying it! Now don't get arrested.

POST 7Original post

I don't think I have heard anyone get Fisters and not be totally impressed... I got the PSE hack, the Fab Speed expensive version of the orange cap mod, and now the taco spoiler seems to vent the sound differently. Awesome. Awesome. Awesome..
