Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Is the 996 non-sport seat BACK interchangeable between the right and the left side of the car? Assuming you're keeping the rest of the seat. I'd imagine so because I doubt Porsche is going to have different parts for right and left seat (also witnessed by the seat back fold levers on both sides) because that would mean more cost in development/tooling/etc. My driver's bolster is worn so if I find a cheap seat back on passenger seat which there are plenty of, I'd imagine that's a good alternative I even wonder if the seat itself is interchangeable if you keep the original rails the same.

POST 2Original post

I've always wondered if you just switched the controls to the opposite side, are the seats interchangeable? -Matt

POST 3Original post

The lever to fold the seat back forward/back will be on the wrong side.

POST 4Original post

Disclaimer - I have reskinned the seats some time ago and my memory is a bit foggy. The seat backs should be interchangeable. The wires may need to be moved from one corner to the other, which is easy to do. The seat bottoms are interchangeable, too, except for the big hole that's left in the side after moving the controls.

? They're on both sides in the 996 for standard seats.
