Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Trying to get a feel for what this would go for. May end up with one with 55k miles, LN IMS, RMS, water pump, and clutch done at 50k miles.

POST 2Original post

Hard to say, they seldom ever come up for sale.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've seen very few listed. Any other opinions?

POST 4Original post

Are you asking from a seller's point of view, or a buyer's point of view? Either way there has to be a story. Care to share?

Titanium valves in a X-51, huh I remember when MB motorsports was in Sacramento selling takeout engines on E-bay.

Lol, maybe he felt generous and threw in a few titanium parts while he rebuilt it.

there is likely to be a story shared, but in the mean time, what is the x51 premium relative to non-x51 in similar condition ?

Can't help you with non-x51 vs. x51 engine pricing, at least with any direct experience. You might see if you can get a quote for a new x51 engine from a dealer. Oh, and while you are there price a new standard engine, too. This would let you know the upper range of the x51 engine and how much dearer (?) the factory values the x51 engine over the standard engine. Also, for both engines find out what the price is with and *without* a core. In some way this I guess could help you set the low limit and at the same time helps you determine what (if any) premium the x51 engine might have over the standard engine. Another way would be to determine a price for the standard engine then adjust this upward by the percentage of difference a car with a x51 engine costs compared to what the same (as close as possible to the same) car with the standard engine costs.
