Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

2000 C4 Cab This happened once before after I locked my car but I was able to open the door from inside through the passenger door. This time no go. Locked the car (by mistake) and now I can't get the door to open either inside or outside handle. Looks like the window isn't dropping down enough to allow the door to open. Its probably dropping down about 1/2 of what it normally does. Tried rolling the window down, still no go. I assume a micro switch has gone bad but which one. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Tad

When you unlock the car can you get in from the passenger side? You may need a new door latch on the drivers side. See this thread https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...-detailed.html

SO how do I get my door open?

If you think the door will open from the inside get a friend with an Aaa membership to come over call them and ask them to pop it from the door handle. Then give your friend beer.

I can get into the car, thats at least good. Neither inside or outside door handle will open the door though, thats bad. Like I said I've rolled the window down thinking that might help but nope.

But I'm always up for giving a friend a beer.

POST 9Original post

When you are sitting in the car, try putting the key in the ignition and turning to run, then hit the center console lock/unlock button several times. When in unlock, try pulling the interior door handle, maybe several times. It might engage. If the door latch has completely given out, you will have to pull the door card (without the door being open) which is a royal pain.
