I don't think I have seen this before....is that a cassette holder? What is the panel below it? A cassette deck? I can't make it out. This car doesn't look bad....$20K for a 2001 C4 with the carbon fiber package, leather, and who knows what else. Too bad it's got 108K on it. http://rockstarmotorcars.com/2001-Po...5/Details.aspx

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Cassette holder...will be a great conversation piece lol
I had the same set up in my 2000 C2. The bottom piece is a factory equalizer where you can select pop, rock, flat, natural etc.
that panel.......is to be removed to make room for your future audio-video upgrades
A testament to Porsche's forward-thinking when it comes to audio equipment. I'm surprised my '99 didn't come with an 8-track player.

Yeah, the DSP panel. What a waste of space...and money. If you're in the mood for a chuckle, you can read Porsche's modest description of the DSP unit from the 996 brochure: True audiophiles, however, will find the Digital Sound Processing system essential. Precisely engineered to match the resonance space of your 911, digital sound processing lets you tune the sound experience to your taste, your music, or even your mood. The system can simulate a concert hall, cathedral, studio, jazz cellar, or simply emphasize bass. All of which proves that in a Porsche, the "essentials" are whatever you deem them to be. Yet another reason Automobile Magazine proclaimed, "There has never been a more complete 911."

Future space to install a pocket.
FYI, you can remove that cassette holder and swap it for a storage tray. The swap takes about 30 seconds.
any recommendations for a storage tray?
Suncoast Porsche , Sunset Porsche, or Bumperplugs.com The upper and lower shelf are different. Make sure you get the right one. Removal: open cd/tape trays. Grab and pull. Installation: Push it in.
