Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello folks. Got the bumper back on my '03 C2, but I can't get either marker light to click back into it's spot. Is there some magic sauce? Thanks.

POST 2Original post

In my experience just a little bit of force will get them seated. They make a terrible noise and then they are back in. Might be more difficult if they are not genuine/OEM

No need to manipulate the spring mechanism in any way? Just give it a good push?

POST 4Original post

Correct no need to do anything with the spring. Make sure the front is seated correctly and then push it in with pressure on the section towards the engine end.

POST 5Original post

Just make sure the tabs at the front of the light are fitting into the slots. If not, pushing it in will break them off...ask me how I know. I've had mine off a half dozen times without an issue, until I was too careless and broke off the tabs on one.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yeah, not sure what the problem is. Got the tabs in place, I press the rearward section in with sufficient force, but the spring isn't catching.

POST 7Original post

You can reach in and compress the spring a bit, or maybe a little grease? If you take the fender liner out you can feel around behind to see if anything is catching. Like Dan said, it does take a fair amount of force, but it is only plastic in the end.

POST 8Original post

Are they genuine/OEM by Hella or aftermarket? If they are aftermarket they might need a slightly different technique perhaps.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I got it. There is a plastic rivet that secures the liner at the rear of the marker light. It can interfere w/ the spring. Thanks everybody.
