Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

19 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Had a nice modest rain tonight and the car feels so good. Wasn't even going fast, it just felt sure footed and tight. The mechanical sounds from the engine as I moved through the revs, the way the car seems wrapped around me, the look of the dash and the feel of the shifter as I moved through the gears...at this point for me this car is a keeper. I was browsing through ebay motors today and had to smile at the prices of Ferrari 308s...and I remember buying mine in the early nineties for $27k. It was a good car but not a great one...certainly not compared to my 996, which I got for about the same money. I think my 996 is going to age very well.

POST 2Original post

I enjoy reading these threads, so much better than IMS/AOS/9393 Mods of Failure/etc...!

Yup. 99% of 996 owners are out enjoying their cars, while the other 1% are complaining or hand-wringing on here. Go have fun!

Maybe some people enjoy learning of the technical nature of their vehicles instead of puffy fluff like this thread.

I'm guessing when you read the title of this thread you were thinking "torque specs"?

POST 7Original post

You do? Thats not really something everybody needs to know. Nope. I was thinking "yet another thread where a 996 owner attempts to overcome their insecurity about having the unpopular 911 by posting fluff nonsense". Its really sad.

Projection? It's ok, you too can love your car.

POST 9Original post

Well I love the car....and while I 'wish' a lot of things I gotta say, I'm privileged to ride such a fine car. THIS thread is about the joy, others are for tech help and the more technical site is renntech.org. But whatever - Love the car, still marvel at how well it holds up and compares for it's age - it's no where near classic performance yet and oh so comfy for daily driving.

I believe the actual figure is 99.6%. OP, glad you're still loving your car. I had to head into "urgent care" - which I believe is Kaiser-speak for "make them wait in line for several hours - the weak ones will die standing in queue and will thus require no intervention" - and the 996 definitely helped take the edge off of an otherwise sucky Sunday morning.

What's really really sad is you. You are a sad excuse for a Porsche owner and a forum contributor. Go away troll. And I will bet you will be back over and over again on this thread to see what people are saying about you trying to come up with some sad retort. Good bye and I'm so happy to put you on the ignore list.

I apologize for not having something wrong with my car to talk about. On the plus side it is nice to have something in life that adds pleasure to my days...and something that makes me appreciate how fortunate I am in the scheme of things.

One of the more pathetic things that I've read on this forum. I don't understand the point of being a self-loathing car enthusiast. If you don't like the 996 then sell it and buy something else.

POST 16Original post

John - I agree 100% - especially on a day like this past wknd. What better way to enjoy how effortlessly the engine revs as the car propels forward with a vengeance.

Feeling the love myself. Driving home tonight from a track day at Laguna on Monday, the old girl seems more content after being thoroughly rung out. These cars love to be driven hard.

You folks that live in Cali suk! I can't even get into my garage right now because the snow is 5' deep all around it. I wanted to let my P-car know it's al right and spring is just around the corner! ;(
