Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Who has a highflow cat x-pipe setup? Is it really worth it and did it make a difference in sound and butt dyno? Anyone want to sell me their used one?

POST 2Original post

I had a Fabspeed one installed in my 2003 996. Very happy, extra 15hp and same torque on dyno. I think its lighter too. Don't want to sell it though..sorry!

POST 3Original post

Have the Brombacher Hi flow cats and x pipe set-up on mine, along with the Fister D mod on the cans no sensor lights, .........love, love, love the sound, for sure! Dyno, I have no idea, and definitely NOT for sale, sorry!

POST 4Original post

Have the fabspeed 200 cell cats on my 02 C4S Awesome upgrade Love it Sorry not for sale

POST 5Original post

I have the Speed Venture X-pipe and 200 cell high flow cats. I am very happy with the set up, it is married to the FisterD Stage III Titanium Sport mufflers. There is definitely an increase in power, and I love the sound Sorry, NOT 4 SALE Give John a call, they offer RL'er discounts

POST 6Original post

Have a Fabspeed x-pipe connected to Porsche PSE. It howls and full throttle and sounds unlike any other M96 I know of. Very happy with the setup although some would argue it's a bit loud.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Is there a big difference from stock, as far as sound?

POST 8Original post

It howls and full throttle and sounds unlike any other M96 I know of.

POST 9Original post

I would consider it a must have item if you plan on any exhaust upgrade,s ,,,The X pipe balance,s the exhaust pulses from both banks and gives off a great exhaust knot .........Well worth it in terms of HP and Exhaust Sound ..................

POST 10Original post

Here is our 996 X-Pipe. As mentioned above, we offer a Rennlist member discount. Please PM or email for details...

POST 11Original post

I went with Cargraphic high flow cats instead of an x-pipe and I couldn't be happier. With PSE open they sound amazing.

Why did you chose not to get an x-pipe?

POST 13Original post

Full FVD setup which I had Thermal Coated. Sounds superb and seems to get better with age....unwilling to part with.

I won't derail your thread with details. I just did a lot of reading and decided I'd prefer separate cats. Also I ended up ordering directly from Cargraphic in Germany and they were the coolest people ever!

Is there a big advantage to thermal coating the exhaust?

Theoretically, it's suppose to keep the heat in which in turn keeps the exhaust velocity up. Same as if you heat wrapped the pipes. It makes it look purdy and keeps the corrosion away as a side benefit. As to your other question regarding X vs crossover pipe, there's been more than a few manufacturers that basically says the x design enhances the sound because it's merging both banks together(subjective of course), making it smoother but also quieter than the crossovers. The downside is you may experience a loss of torque below 4k but more than make up for it in the higher rpms(mostly suitable to track cars). Once again, ymmv depending on your supporting mods and ecu tune and whether you have 200 cell cats which minimizes this loss vs. catless. There's a handful of dyno comparisons floating around the net.

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well that sums it up I guess. I am in search of a catted x-pipe. I will probably have it thermal coated too. Anyone selling their used setup?
