Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Does anyone know on the ac relay which terminal is positive and which is neg.? Pins number 85 and 86 according to the print I have show they are the relay coil wires and I am not sure which one is supposed to be positive got some weird issues. Thanks in advance. John

POST 2Original post

'usually' its like this, genetically, all depends upon what they want the relay to do: 30 = power into relay 85 = ground for relay 86 = the trigger, power to here makes or breaks contacts 87 = normally open contact, power out 87a = normally closed contact, power out 986,987,996,997 AC

POST 3Original post

Pin 86 is +12v supplied by fuse C1 and 85 is grounded by the DME to turn ON the compressor.

Thanks guys, that is exactly what I needed to know. Had a really hard time trying to figure out the 31 pin which has what appears to be a diode between it and pin 87 and the wire that goes to the 31 pin is goes to the injectors wow not sure still what thats about. But I have figured out that I have lost my grnd that goes to pin 85 so trying to chase down why now. Trying now to research what the permissives are thru the DME in order to send the grnd to the pin. Thanks again guys! John
