Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Final got my lift installed.! Rotary SPOA9 (asymmetric). Some say lift after driving in forward, some say lift after driving in backward. Rotary manual shows 911 going in forward. Every car I've put on the lift so far I raise six inches and put all my weight on the front and then back to make sure steady. Now that I have the lift, I'm going to drop the engine to do UAOS and injectors. My concern is change in balance when engine removed. Looking for description of car to column (for example "drive in forward, column even with steering wheel"). I would really appreciate side view of the car on the lift with engine out.

POST 2Original post

If ever in doubt add additional support. Tall support stands Amazon Amazon , or not steady but a 4x4 can be put on your jack pad and lifted up to provide support.

I have a rotary lift, when I drop the turbo engine, I have lift jack stands supporting the car.

Lift table looking at raises to 34. Those lift jack stands on Amazon have a minimum height of 53. Not understanding how you drop the engine if have a stand that tall. Also, it will probably take me several weekend to drop/work on/ reinstall engine. Would like to have car off lift during that time.

POST 5Original post

When I did the 2 ls1 installs I got it as close to the middle of the car as possible. There really wasnt a concern of the car tipping, the biggest concern is the strength and thickness of the concrete and anchors if it is unbalanced.

POST 6Original post

The weight removal will not effect the lift or balance at all. The car is about the 3rd of the weight that lift can support and rotorys r overbuilt. U have a 10k 2 symetric. Get the lift pucks for the car and it will never move once up. Current motor swap.

Duh on me. I thought about the statics of the loading. I I used to be an engineer so I should have realized the four support points on the car don't know what kind of lift they are on.

The installing dealer said the Rotarys have to lift three times their specified weight and show no permanent deformation when the load is removed.

POST 9Original post

They are pretty light cars,, but I do back mine on to do light maintenance. If you have thick concrete and quality anchors the imbalance wouldnt really affect that lift. I have an off brand lift and borderline concrete thickness, so balancing is important to me. I enjoy working under my 12,000 lb worth 4 post much more.
