Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

WOW! I saw that one closing yesterday and knew it would go high!! I just wonder if the new owner will drive the thing or just let it sit?

Good question... Think if were me owning that pristine gem, I'd have to drive it, at least somewhat. Maybe no cross country trips or daily driver. But for sure at least a 100 miles a month. But for some, maybe the new owner, it would be preserved in a collection as a historical nib example. Might not be a bad idea, how many are out there like this one..? The pics from under the car look like it just came off the assembly line, bright aluminum, not even a spec of corrosion dirt.
Good to see. Thats a collector. Its gonna sit. I would buy a another 996 Turbo with some mileage on it for $60-70k and drive it.
And of course that insanely annoying 996tt throater bmdaia is all over the comments. This is sheer stupidity btw.
Good to see lmfao yeah isnt it good to see that the top 1% have enough money to pay any stupid amount they want to in order to outbid someone in an auction?
I don't know what the top 1% would want a car like this for. it takes space. And some maintenance to keep it that clean. And it's so far out of line in price, whose the next guy that'll pay more than this? I don't get it. I guess I've never understood collections. Except for tools, of which mine is poor and used.
This is not a " CAR "..cars are meant to be driven in person......This is "ART " ..... art is to be looked at to be enjoyed ... Interesting $ number though for something just to look at ..lol
Yeah, I will stick with my 2002 996 C2 w/68k miles. I have enjoyed sitting on the driveway smoking a cigar and looking at it for 23 years. Same at the track. It has aged well.

I realize that it's fashionable to bash collectors. But I appreciate that this car still exists in basically new form. Porsche made a couple hundred thousand 996s. There are many, many tens of thousands of them being driven. Nothing wrong with a small handful being preserved. Even if I'll never see that car in person and I, personally, cannot afford to have an art piece in my garage, I appreciate that this car exists, virtually undriven. I'll confess that I spent quite a few minutes ogling the pictures. Nothing wrong with that.

I have the same car with about the same miles! Although, Ive only had the pleasure of admiring it for 12 years with no plans ro change that anytime soon.

This 👍 Also this 👍 Very cool opportunity to own a nearly-new Mezger.
Must be tough to have a half mil to burn.

"Stupidity"? What's stupid about it?
