Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Is there any place online I could punch in the chassinr to fin the model year or could I read it out of the chassinr directly? I dont have the car here to see, but I have the chassi nr. Need to find out if the Porsche 996 3,4 is a 1998 or 1999 modell. 1998 have wire throttle body 1999 have electronic, thats why I need to know.

POST 2Original post

Is it a C4? If it's a 1999 C4, you have an electronic throttle. If it's a 2WD '99, it is not e-gas. http://www.performance2and4.co.uk/chassisnumbers.htm

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thx, its a C2. So then its wire both 98 and 99?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

To bad with wire, I wanted to put on the big GT3 throttlebody and IPD, but only works with E-GAS

POST 5Original post

Correct - 98 and 99 Carrera 2 would be a mechanical throttle linkage, not e-gas.
