Considering selling...any reason not to sell on BAT or cars and bids. For some reason when this is asked people move to pm's.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

as long as they agree with your reserve I can't think of any reason not to

is it common for them not to agree with the reserves of the seller.
Contact nyoutftr. He just sold his on bat.
Quotes source post: 18321035
that would be a pm...whats the wait time on actual listing to bat
Pretty long unless you're premium. Months.
Quotes source post: 18321082
Yes it would be...
I've bought/sold on there as well if you have questions. Don't expect a fast listing (i.e. submit on a Monday and list a few days later).

I doubt it. But I imagine they will try everything they can to get a car sold and that includes pressuring the seller to lower or go no reserve. but they can't force you to do anything.
One thing to keep in mind......and I don't necessarily advocate this............you are not bound by any contract to sell the car. Even if you go No Reserve and don't get what you want, the worst that happens is you're out your listing fee and get banned. Same goes for the buyer. To paraphrase Nathan Merz: "Bring A Trailer is more like a hot lead generator."

did you hire a photographer or do it yourself?

go ahead and pm me. I think is the blue convertible??

Nah, seal gray 02 cab.
They pushed and pushed me to remove the reserve on the 1999 BMW Z3 Coupe I wanted to sell. Eventually they bounced the listing. Sold it on Craigslist for more than I wanted for a reserve. Turned me off to them entirely.
BAT is a great place to sell a car. Not a great place to buy one. My 996 experience as a buy on BAT was very bad. They ended up giving me my fees back. If you can jump through their hoops there are lot of folks who over pay there. Best,

Really? How did BaT even get involved with the purchase? I purchased one and it was flawless -- BaT was completely unseen from the entire process, it was entirely between me and the seller. How was your transaction different? I am guessing your negative experience had much more to do with the seller and much less to do with BaT?

I bought two cars on BaT and had the good fortune of having really good experiences both times. I agree that it was due in large part to the quality of the sellers. The second seller did me the enormous favor of driving the car a few hundred miles and delivering it right to my home! Short answer: I agree, the seller makes a huge difference in the buying experience and BaT has next to nothing to do with it.

High pressure to remove the reserve or set an artificially low reserve is a story I've about BaT several times. The other story I'm hearing more recently is the long wait time between contracting with them and the listing finally appearing.

any idea if cars and bids has a long wait time? I dont think they get as high of a price but I could be wrong. Im fairly certain I'm somewhere in the low 30's based on what I've seen recently. I have everything done except suspension (which is fine) and some receipts, 57k mileage.

I hired a local guy to do it, then took subsequent photos with my cell phone. He was a member of the PCA and does car photography as a side hobby. There's bound to be a similar person in your area.

I am open to discussing the experience, send me a PM. I can tell you, I would have not survived the frustration that started on May 31 with initial inquiry, without the help of a few RL members, with suggestions, etc. Mine was delayed in part, due to the my inability to get photographer scheduled through a couple weeks of almost daily rain. Finally ended up with our own photos. They did inquire about the carfax indicating minor damage, I had turned my road rash and stone chips into insurance company, not recommended. So that does show they are somewhat selective. They WILL CONTROL THE NARRATIVE on any issue. The reserve issue was big, they want a high percentage of sold auctions, not ones that do not hit reserve. Over the time of first contact to the car being listed, the Feds raised interest rates twice and the market took a dive. Timing is important. In the end my car was sold. Good luck to you.
