Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi everyone, Glad to join the community. Looks like a great forum for enthusiasts. I'm in the market for an early 996 due to them having the double row IMSB. I'm a little confused because I keep finding '99s that don't have scrambled egg reflector on the front headlight assembly. I was under the impression that this wasn't turned into a clear look until the 2000 model? Thanks.

POST 2Original post

I have a 99 that has clear fronts and rears. Not sure if that was original or if a PO changed them out.

POST 3Original post

It is very easy to swap out the headlights. - 10 minute job There is only one fastener holding them in and the tool needed is provided in the 996 toolkit. A lot of '99 owners have swapped out the yellow for clear (myself included.)

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks that's very helpful. Is my understanding correct that from the factory all 2000s had the cleared look?

POST 5Original post

Mine is a later model '99 and it came with the front and rear clear lenses.

POST 6Original post

My understanding is that later 99s had the clear fronts and rear lights. My 99 has them and I don't think the previous owner of my car was into modding.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
