Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've been hanging out on the 928 board quite a bit since buying a 928S4 back in September. Those guys are really good at having several regional and national gatherings throughout the year just for 928s. I realize PCA does several events for all types of P-cars. Is there any interest in doing something like what the 928 guys do for just 996s? We could have it anywhere. It could be a rotating venue. I'd be happy to host it here at the Kansas City Automotive Museum the first year. We just did a local gathering of 928s yesterday that we threw together in 4 days yet still had 9 sharks participate (not a bad showing for a rare animal like the 928). Thoughts? BTW - Official policy at KCAM is that 996 drivers always get free admission to the museum as 3 of our 9 board members drive 996s.

Hmmm, 20 hr. drive? Prolly not for me...Nice idea though! Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, Kwanza, Festivus or whatever holiday you may celebrate

POST 6Original post

Motorhome + trailer + 996 = I'm in. Find me a track to drive between here and there if you could.

POST 7Original post

Sounds like a great time. I might be down, never been to KC, although a bit of a hike for me from Michigan.

POST 8Original post

Sounds good, reasonably close for me... too bad the BBQ is only second class to Memphis, but we'll survive... ha! Thanks for taking the initiative... would be good if co-located/timed with a local track event...

POST 10Original post

If you can relocate it to San Diego, I'm 100% in for it! I do own some property in Iowa City that I've never seen, so I s'pose it would give me an excuse to see it. Is that far? Flat Zone US is pretty much all the same to me, so my concept of distances is poor.

It's about 4.5 hours. I'm down I come up to KC all the time.

POST 13Original post

I totally missed the BBQ possibilities. Ok, that needs to be part of the experience if Kansas City is chosen.

POST 14Original post

San Diego is the perfect place Great weather and great back roads to drive

POST 15Original post

We have decent BBQ in SD, too. Passable, anyway.

POST 16Original post

Yes, they sing the glory of San Diego BBQ in all the food halls of fame.

POST 18Original post

In. KC would be great. I've always wanted to drive across the country, so SD works as well-

POST 19Original post

Good idea, but we have to start with a poll to see where the majority of 996 are located and then go from there to pick up location.

POST 20Original post

I like the San Diego idea. I live in Vegas which is another good place to have it but it would be more fun for me to drive to San Diego.

POST 21Original post

Come to think of it, Vegas is not bad either and more inland for our Midwesterners. I just don't know how scenic of a location it is for a few drives. One thing is for sure, plenty of hotels, lots of boose and skin. I vote Vegas if there are a few nice roads.

POST 23Original post

I love that the thread has become "how about [wherever the poster lives]"

POST 24Original post

How about Colorado? So many twisty roads and beautiful scenery than flat lands. And I will even let some of you crash in my house for the night.

Nope, ain't drivin' out to PA.

POST 27Original post

Oddly, there is an excellent chance I am driving to SD in the next 12 months. If I can figure out how to get 5 people in a 996 I could bring her along.

POST 28Original post

It should be a 996 MEET IN THE MIDDLE event ! Both coasts could come and every year after it goes from East to West Also charge $100 per attendee. The $$ goes into a permanent pot for any 996 owner that has IMSB failure while enroute or returning from the 996 MEET IN THE MIDDLE event.

POST 29Original post

OR There are some nice roads around Vegas. We have a national park, a lake and a ski area so there are some nice roads. For a start I think we need a western states meet and a separate eastern states meet. I for one am not going to drive to PA. I would drive to CA or CO or OR or UT, AZ, NV or WA for instance. Someone said to get a list together of where owners live which is a good idea and then go from there. How about two different lists, an EASTERN STATES and WESTERN STATES list?
