Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This doesn't seem right and doesn't match the assembly diagrams in the manual. Can someone please verify with pics the proper lay of the belt. I'm thinking I have a half twist. The bottom attachment is bent at a slight angle and must be placed with the angle bent outward for movement clearance. photo(28).JPG photo(29).JPG photo(30).JPG photo(31).JPG

POST 2Original post

Verified. It's always like that. Agree it's counterintuitive though.

POST 4Original post

Anytime. BTW, after you buckle up, you should feel the belt "flows" correctly from the bottom anchor to your waist, buckle and shoulder and there should be no twists. Then the only "twist" should be between your shoulder and the B pillar anchor.

POST 5Original post

My seatbelts are twisted as shown in the photos above. But the buckles points the opposite way. for both driver and passenger. So to buckle up, I have to have the belt twisted between the floor and my lap. Which raises two questions. How can I fix it? (I hope that with enough patience I can twist the buckles around. The alternative would be to unbolt the belt at the bottom, but only if it's possible to pull the buckle all the way down and off - not sure it is.) And how did it get that way? Did Porsche make a habbit of screwing this up? (The last 996 I saw other than mine was the same.) Or does it indicate someone put the car back together incorrectly after an accident?

POST 6Original post

Yep, with enough patience, I can twist the buckle around. Still wondering if this is a common Porsche error, or a sign of a repair, or ... .
