Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Does anyone know how to find the part number on Porsche shift cables (#3) ? I am looking at putting a new set in and want to make sure they fit. I have a '99 and it seems like there was some sort of change to the cables (anyone know what the change was?). I also need to purchase #8 and #9 and want to make sure I get the right ones (mine are really worn). VIN is: 99XS651549. I found the part number. It is printed on the Grey cable and was hidden under a black rubber gasket-like part. It is a 996.424.041.12 which seems to be an older version of .14. Hopefully this will work for me. I noticed that Porsche has some kind of lube available for the shift cables. Prob makes sense to lube these before I put them in the car. Any favorite shift-cable lubes you guys know of?

POST 3Original post

I think that the lube #10 is for rubber seal #3? It's very tough to get seal seated right, with out any lube.

Thanks Speed. Good to know. #10 is: Kluberplus Grease 10 - Genuine PorscheG00004320593 Known as: grease 1 100-gramme tube / grease

I'm guessing that little tube costs $39. Anyone?
