For anyone interested we have a full video rebuild from driving in to out again of a M96 3.6 car on our web site www.hartech.org . First posted on the 997 forum - there have been some interesting answers and a lot of technical information posted there as well. Baz (Technical Director Hartech Automotive).

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Really informative vid. Thanks!!!
awesome video ! I think the best so far I have seen and the only timelapse on an M96... I wish there was a US based shop that could show the same kind of effort. That really goes a long way making me feel good about spending $$$ on a rebuild.

Your wishes may be met at the Porsche Literature Fair next year if you beg Jake to publish his new book -uncensored ,hopefully.
Stand by for 2017
Fantastic, thank you. Here's a direct link: https://vimeo.com/196262371
Jake, My money is on stand by ... can't wait to see that book. I don't think I will ever rebuild my engine, but that would be a great coffee table book as I have always dreamed of tackling such project so learning about it will be a first step
Amazing video. Thank you. Either you have great lighting in the shop or you added some lighting equipment for the video, which I really appreciate. I will not be rebuilding my own engine.

Phil, May I correct you ? Most M96 engines will need a rebuild so your dreams may come true :-). It is just that time of year- for bore scoring -it's the holly ,I think ! Jake's hint at a 2017 publication date for his book - The M96 Definitive Guide, is very good news- at last. But I think we need to encourage Jake to sell a premium version of his book. He has censored it.So the new book will be Raby-lite & polite. Not the guy I enjoy so much . The original version was too controversial - he thought. The watered down, new book would be O.K. for the sensitive types who want a bedtime P.C. book and drink NA beer. Personally ,I would pay a premium for the uncensored version. I like to have my mechanical misconceptions demolished, my false impressions shattered .I'd love to read something that makes the original engineers of this brilliant but flawed engine squirm. I love the idea that some of the controversial content would send Baz into a (polite & eloquent) rage, make Martin swear and leave the other competitors arguing among themselves. Bring it (all) on Jake - have some fun with YOUR book. Every sentence does not have to be perfectly parsed and polished but it has to sound like Jake Raby !
