I'm thinking of buying a pre-owned hardtop for my 04 C4S Cab. Car is silver and, of course, a matching top would be the traditional choice. However, I've been considering black. Anyone have any experience with such a mix-and-match? Any opinions?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. That would look good! OK, seriously, I don't think that would look good. There was a guy here about 3 years ago that, IIRC, had an Arctic Silver Cab and put a Seal Gray top on it. It looked horrible!
Mix and match? Hell no! IMO the hardtop is ugly enough as it is.

But if the price is right, you can always have the top painted to match.
Two tones have become passe--for a reason! Although it MIGHT look good in some rare combinations, what this will do it get people to say,--why didn't he paint it to match? Black, at least, will look sort of like the soft top!
Maybe if you cover it in black vinyl?? Nah, Get a matching top.
Thanks everyone. I get it: I'll go for a matching top! Except, well, how about landau bars?
