Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

From my haphazard review of parts lists, the only real difference between the 996 and 997 suspension is the rear wheel carrier (99733161107). I have been thinking of transplanting a damptronic system on to a 996. Bilstein makes aftermarket damptronic shocks all the way from B4 to B16. There is at least one aftermarket controller system for these shocks. The rub is that they don't make the damptronic shock for the 996. There is one aftermarket "damptronic" shock for 996, but it is very expensive and race orientated. but... If I could graft a 997 wheel carrier into a 996 suspension...problem solved. The control arms and various other linkages between the subframe and the wheel seem the same. One of the issues may be the rear wheel speed sensor, which looks different in construction. I haven't looked to carefully at the cv joints and half-shafts. Has anyone done anything like this?
