Is there any easy to do options to remove a little play from the shifter? without removing the whole shift kit and adding new washers etc..?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Not really. But removing and upgrading the old one with either a stock or short-throw one is a pretty simple job, one of the best mods I've done.
Best modification you can do is upgrade to the standard 997 shifter. There are many options though, depending on budget and throw. 1. 997 standard 2. 997 gt3 (same throw but with metal bushings) 3. 997 short throw shifter 4. 996 b&m short shifter 5. Numeric racing (most expensive and some say the very best) There are also options from a mob called function first. A search will get you plenty of info on all the options listed and more. Installation is easy: 1. Remove console 2. Mark where the cables lay inside the holders. 3. Remove shifter assembly 4. Re-install Detailed instructions can be found on here somewhere Good luck
There isn't, unless you count this completely documented method on Youtube: You Tube
There is a function first document that shows the process somewhere too, I'll upload it here when I get that chance As kcattourney mentions the only way to reduce play is to replace it
