Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm glad to report that I've bought my first 996, which is also my first 911. My first Porsche was also water-cooled, as I had an '83.5 944 when I was younger. Here it is: IMG_4516_zpsvg2oci0w.jpg So, this is my new ride! It's an '03 996 that I bought from a good friend of mine. It'll be my daily driver, though I've got a Subaru Outback for the really snowy days. It's got Litronic, Bose and full leather and no PSM. Manual, of course, with an LN IMS bearing. I flew from Boston to Austin, TX and drove it back in 2.5 days. It was, uh, cozy. And stiff! Right now it's mostly setup for the track. It's got a center radiator, Mantis extended oil pan, Tarett strut-top mounts, Tarett drop-links, GMG anti-roll bars, GT3 coilovers, stiffer engine mounts and probably some other stuff I can't remember. Engine is stock and exhaust is stock too. A quick detour through the Cherohala Skyway between TN and NC produced this: IMG_4567_zps3nqif4wt.jpg And here it was at its new home in Boston, ~2300 miles after I started: IMG_4578_zps6y0rkdh3.jpg Only mods planned are a Dension Gateway 500 Lite which I've got but haven't installed, and maybe re-trimming the steering wheel in Alcantara. I'd like to soften up the suspension -- going back to stock or maybe to M030 -- so we'll see how that goes. I've also got a set of 17" winter wheels and tires (Turbo Twist copies) with Continental studless snows. We'll see how that works out!

POST 2Original post

Have a great time with the car...looks very nice.

POST 3Original post

That's quite the "get acquainted" drive! Enjoy!

POST 4Original post

Great looking car! FYI, I have an M030 suspension that I might be interested in trading for something stiffer. Assuming you have a C2 of course.

POST 5Original post

If you want something comfortable on the street M030 may not be the answer - it is quite stiff.

POST 6Original post

I guess it's all relative. I find then to be very pleasant. There were multiple roads I couldn't even go down with my KW V3s that I can take at speed with the M030. Mine are the US version though, not the ROW.

POST 9Original post

Nice car, how many miles on it. I have the stock suspension, very comfortable ride. I keep thinking of going stiffer but how I drive it I it handles just fine.

POST 10Original post

If you want a stock set-up, I have one all boxed up and ready to ship https://rennlist.com/forums/parts-ma...uspension.html Driving time about 5 hours from Boston
