I just sold the 996. I just got custody of my two kids so I wouldn't be driving it much(Although my 12 yr old son thanked me for picking him up from a school event in it when he came out of the gym with a girl and a smile). I got out of it what I had in it so no harm no foul. Im sure the itch for a new play thing will come soon . Ill just have to figure out a way to scratch it and have kids.
Sorry to hear that. My boys are still small enough to sit in the back seat. They like the "rumble" of the engine. Apparently the Macan is a pretty serious machine. When the 80,000 Macans sold in 2015 start coming off lease next year...

Congratulations on having custody of your kids as well as for your decision. As others have said, your kids only grow up once. My son and I spent countless extremely memorable and happy hours together when he was growing up, including my coaching his baseball and soccer teams. He is in college now and has his friends and interests so our times together are much less. I would gladly give up my 996 to relive our moments together. Enjoy every moment with them as they are priceless.

You would have gotten away with it too if it weren't for those pesky kids!! Congrats on getting custody. That in itself is a serious accomplishment to be proud of. Maybe you can get another 996 in 4 years when the 12yr old is ready to start driving. They should be sub $10k by then Guess I did it wrong. When my son was born I ordered our 2nd Porsche Then I put the airbag disable bar in the 996 which quickly made it his favorite car since he can ride up front.

First of all, what's it like to be able to sleep at night and not worry about IMSB failures?? I sold my Boxster S and got an M5 to make room for my two kids, then 1 and 3 years old. Wife said not to, but I couldn't bare to have to make the choice between being with my kids versus the Boxster. But M5 was a pain, so I grabbed a Mini Cooper S and now have a 996. The kids are now 4 and 6 and they still fit fine. My point is, you can always grab another 911 later on, but time with your kids is indeed priceless.
