Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I like a little deviation from the monotone of single colour. I would like opinions on getting center console in either exterior color (Arctic silver) or metropol blue? Maybe black. I also want to upgrade shifter and hand brake to Aluminum/Carbon but maybe get the leather boot in black or metropol blue. The car has small carbon fiber dash kit. Center console in Carbon would look maybe too much? I also have a .Metropol blue 3 spoke steering wheel that I can swap out? Carbon fiber steering wheel might be an option CF wheel shifter and handbrake

POST 2Original post

You could try plasti-diping your center console. Cheap + reversible = try before you buy.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Never heard of it I ll look into it.

POST 4Original post

My 997 had a very monotone interior in Sand Beige. I had the center console painted to match the exterior, and I put Cocoa floor mats in the car in place of the OE beige mats. These two things made a big difference in the way the interior looked.

POST 5Original post

Thanks for posting this, I have the same all grey interior and I've been wondering the same thing. Body color is Midnight Blue, considering doing the center console, maybe the trim around the A/C / radio area in that color. I hadn't considered contrasting floor mats, that might be an option. I do love my full leather interior! What do you'all think? Please post pics if you have them.

POST 6Original post

I love my coco mats! I have a monotone black interior on a guards red car, and purchased black mats with red dots. I would only buy from the original company, not particularly cheap, but well worth the cost.

POST 7Original post

A few interior pics if anyone wants to photoshop them...

POST 8Original post

Yes, that's my disgusting center console, now you know why I want to paint it! Or cover it in leather...

POST 9Original post

other than the steering wheel, I think it's looks good for a 996.😎

POST 10Original post

Oh, that is gorgeous! Might I ask where you purchased it all? Was it factory? How much? If you drive your car down here, I'll gladly swap your pieces for my worn out crappy ones!

POST 11Original post

I agree that the center console needs to be a contrasting color. I'm not sure what though. A lot of people paint it the body color and that's fine, but when I was growing up my father always bought the cheapest models of cars and those had the interior parts the same as the exterior. So for me, it has a stigma. I have the same issue with black wheels because cars used to have hub caps and if they were missing you just saw the black rims. I know, I'm old. I can't help that. It all comes down to what you like. I have an extra console that I got cheap and have playing around with that. I sprayed it silver with Plasti-Dip but I'm not happy with the results. It's okay but not great. I may try to upholster it.

Thank you. BRUMOS installed in '03. Not sure, but probably $3K plus?

POST 13Original post

Dranon, I did my horseshoe and center console in Seal Grey Metallic (exterior match) and love the contrast. Arctic Siver will look sharp and go well with the other trim accents like shifter, glove box handle and door pulls.

I really wish they made a Guards Red/Savannah Beige combo..

POST 15Original post

Im in the same boat. Im in the middle of updating my interior. I want to modernize it without bastardizing it. I just finished revamping the center console. I got rid of the ashtray and moved the window switches to the dash. I want to do a contrast on some of the leather pieces in the console, maybe the shift boot, side pads, and arm rest cover..I was thinking Gaurds Red, but my search for an off the shelf color has so far turned up empty.

I think the steering wheel looks great! I was worried it would look bad with that much CF but I like it! I might go the same route!

POST 17Original post

Here is a couple of pictures of the painted console and radio surround in the exterior (Midnight Blue Metallic) color of my 996

POST 18Original post

When I bought my car last year, the interior was a vast sea of gray and one of my goals was to un-gray some of it. It's a work in progress but I've done steering wheel, shifter, console bits and floor mats. The mats are Cocomats that came with the car. The steering wheel and airbag have a lot of contrast in this pic, but in person, they blend perfectly.

Very tasteful. It comes across as a factory two tone......I like it.

POST 20Original post

Love that carbon fiber treatment, really well done...

period correct passport radar/jammer lol. Nice install, but quite obsolete. Detects Volvo auto cruise control very well.😊

POST 23Original post

SoCal911T has a nice look with the black two-tone. Unique and classic appearance...not garish.

I have same graphite interior and breaking it up with options really helps. I plasti dipped center console in flat black. Its easy and matches color on black trim. It holds up relatively well, but I decided to paint myself be factory body color paint. Carbon fiber pieces really stand out well and look great. I went with black black floor mats also.

I also ordered a carbon fiber ashtray delete and tip surround. Will post once they arrive. Snagged quick pics, so previously posted arent great, but you get the idea.
