Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Got to replace the hand brake micro switch so I can operate the top from inside the car. Was wondering how long it takes to remover the center console? Looks fairly straight forward, but want to make sure I budget enough time before I start taking it apart.

POST 2Original post

Maybe 20-30 minutes your first time? probably 10 minutes every time after.

POST 3Original post

Allow yourself at least one hour if you're doing it for the first time. Top tip: Remove the upper console as one part (the section with the CD hodler/cubby in it). Watch out for the additional wires connected to the console: ash tray light, cable to console storage bin lock 1. Remove storage bin 2. Remove shifter 3. Remove upper console as one unit (pull off sides) 4. Open storage bin remove lining - remove screws 5. Undo handbrake side cover Hope that helps, there are PDF instructions about somewhere 6. Remove H metal mounting bracket at front of the console These are very rough instructions

POST 5Original post

First time I took mine off it took me about 20 minutes. But I had all the tools needed in the toolcart next to me. Youll need torx and sockets.

POST 6Original post

Be VERY careful to not scratch the front side of your ebrake..

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the info everyone! The B&M instructions should get me through it. Will give it a go this weekend. I replaced the water pump and trans mount myself so this should be easy in comparison.

POST 8Original post

Make sure you tape up the handbrake. It will get damaged if you don't.

POST 9Original post

Also, be careful wih the two torx (one each side) behind the batwing where the screwheads are on the footwell side. There are orange plastic grommets inside the console tunnel that will break if not gently removed.
