Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm sure this topic has been beat to death, and yes I have searched "x51 996" and didn't come up with what I was looking for, but are they worth it? I understand the piping a little larger and the gains aren't going to be crazy but would the sound be better? Sorry if it is annoying, just looking to get first hand clarification.

POST 2Original post

You would probably be better off going with reputable aftermarket headers if you are looking to make more power. Would likely be cheaper as well. If you have the X51 header already handy though, it wouldn't hurt anything to throw it on.

POST 3Original post

Not unless you have 3.6L with all the other bolt ons already. Even then you are going to be shifting the powerband up and would only benefit you in a track type situation where you keep your rpm's on the higher side. A better swap would be the 997S headers and these can be had a lot cheaper as well.

POST 4Original post

Did you do the rest of the exhaust system already and/or do you have other upgrades? It's not as if these cars weren't somewhat tuned out of the factory as far as headers, and it may be more beneficial to address the crossover/cats/mufflers before worrying about headers. IMO

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have the modifications listed in my sig. Essentially the only thing j have left to do is the remainder of the exhaust. I have a guy who is selling x51 headers with a set of manga flow welded 200 cell high flow cats for 1000 dollars. I figured it would be a great deal but just want to make sure that it's going to be worth my while.

For that price, I don't think you have too much to lose. If it doesn't work out, you can always get your money back. If you're ok with the shift in powerband, go for it.
