Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My 2002 C2 obligatorily suffered from some type of internal engine grenade on track this summer despite ~40k miles, IMS, RMS, Oil Baffles, X51 oil pan, motorsports AOS and no high temps. I bought a wrecked ~35k mile 2004 C2 with front end damage and will scavenge the engine from it and do the above upgrades once again. I have a track buddy with a 99 or 00 996 who has shown interest in buying the transmission. Everywhere that I look the transmissions are sold as 99-01 or 02-04. So obviously I pose the question, is the transmission from my 04 C2 compatible with his 99 C2? Just plug and play or is there a significant difference? Thanks

Anyone out there with any ideas on this? Thanks

I believe the transmissions will bolt on between MK1/MK2 cars. The MK2 transmission is internally stronger, and a bit heavier. I have not confirmed this, so hopefully somebody who has can chime in.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
