Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all - Hoping someone else has experienced this. The small 15 amp blade fuse in my control module under the driver seat keeps blowing. When this happens it makes the key fob inoperable and also leaves the frunk inoperable. I can't seem to find any rhyme or reason as to when it happens or what makes it happen. Sometimes a fuse will last a week, sometimes it will last a day. I've had it blow when the car just sat for a week, and I've had it blow right away as soon as I replace it. I can't see any obvious defects in the wiring under the seat that lead to the module and the ground there is showing 12 V and is secure. Any ideas? 02 Targa if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance Mike

POST 2Original post

Has it been wet under the seat? Could be one of your door locks shorting, or I have seen the gas cap lock short and cause this. You can unplug the lock solenoid for the gas cap and see if the fuse will stay alive.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Nope, no signs of moisture, I even opened the box and it looks dry. I'll check out the gas cap solinoid, thanks. Where is it?

It's to the rear of the gas cap lid flap. (has a little plastic rod that pops out and hits the hole in the gas cap lid when you lock the car ).You have to loosen or remove the plastic inner fender liner.
