Hey guys! I've been considering picking up a cheap kayak (I'm talking really cheap) just for something fun to do when and if I have some free time. It may or may not become something I'd like to invest more into later down the line but, for now (and due to other commitments), I just want to do this for as little as possible. I've found some locally that seem like they'd do the job well enough for what I want and below $100! I will, of course, need to get a roof rack for when I buy one, however at what appears to be around $450+ for the roof rack, my fun little budget-friendly hobby looks like it's going to have to become a pipe dream for a while. Are there any cheaper alternatives or recommendations for this? Thanks in advance!

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Looks like Thule has one, or at least did (not cheap by any means): https://www.ebay.com/itm/Brand-New-C...MAAOSwqoRbQMN6 Or the Porsche option: https://www.suncoastparts.com/produc...hoCC-4QAvD_BwE That being said, if you are interested in one and don't need it to be perfect, I may be able to help. I have a Porsche rack but I didn't get the keys with it. It was not locked, so I simply pulled out the lock cores. That doesn't impact the function at all (I suspect Thule or some other mfg cores would pop right in too). It is a working rack, but it isn't concourse condition. It's yours for $150 plus shipping and paypal fees. Shoot me a private message if you want pictures, etc.
Ooh, this could be what I need! I'm assuming the locks are to only to prevent theft of rack?
Just adding a note of caution here. The Porsche racks AND some Thule racks have the T-bar in it which all Porsche roof rack accessories use. i.e bike carriers, surfboard ski etc. I had to get Thule bars for my Subaru since the Sub OEM racks did NOT have the T-bar and Porsche roof box, bike carrier and Kayak carrier would not work on the Sub track!! The "others" WILL work on the Porsche rack that just clamps on, but the T-bar ones will not work on just the bar ones.

I went and looked at the rack I have and don't think it will work. Based on some YouTube videos, it looks like there are mounting base parts that I don't have which go between the rack itself and the car. These parts bolt to the roof then the rack bolts to these bases. Bummer.
