Anyone have experience with roll bars in a 996 Targa? I have the Tequipment Cab Bar (996.580.984.00) which didn't fit. The top lateral edges of the bar did not clear the interior. Which roll bars will fit in the 996 targa w/o modifications?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

From memory I think there might be a Targa specific bar in the tequipment catalogue
If nothing else, there are lots of sources for custom roll bars. And why go with something standard with a Targa anyway? As I understand it, most of the Targa's extra 70 kg versus the Carrera isn't the glass, it's 30mm steel bars/tubes Porsche added to the roof structure to make it stiffer so it (almost) wouldn't squeak. (And also to keep the entire car stiff - apparently it's stiffer than a Carrera, though not sure whether that's roof-open, closed, or both.) So you may already have the beginnings of a cage built in. Why not take advantage of it? Of course, that would mean an integrated cage - which is better still! Or at least integrated parts. You could have things like the rear cross bars bolt in (and out when not needed) to the integrated bits. Keep us posted!
Actually, no factory options for Targas listed in the Tequipment brochure (coupe and cab only):
Thanks for the feedback. I'll keep ya'll updated, if I have a local shop custom fab a bar for me. Currently thinking of TC Design in the Bay Area. If ya'll have any suggestions, feel free to let me know.
Those always look pretty nice to my eyes. Mike
Well if your not modifying the roll bar you have there, I’d be interested in buying for my cabriolet if you end up wanting to part with it.
