Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So as Im doing some other things to the car I noticed what seems to my like bad pulleys. So first of all, am I correct in assuming that these are bad? And if so what are the detrimental effects of bad pulleys?

POST 2Original post

Technically it's the bearing that goes bad, and yeah that one seems like its on its way out. Have you noticed noise while driving? When they get really bad you'll start to hear it. As far as detrimental effects, eventually it could seize up or fall apart - which would more than likely ruin your belt, and at best leave you stranded. At worst you could overheat.

Cant really hear much but the exhaust in my car. I just happened to spin them. are the bearings hard to get out?

The bearing is press fit, the pully as a whole is not hard to swap out. Don't wait until it's to late!

POST 6Original post

I honestly didn't try to remove the bearing itself when I replaced mine. It was just easier to order the whole part which includes a new pulley and bearing. I'd imagine its possible, but may not be worth the effort.
