Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

When topping of the power steering fluid i noticed that this hose was not connected at the far end and can not find anything to connect it to. The loose end of the hose was actually tucked down below the reservoir. I think it's just an air bleeder hose to prevent back pressure but it doesn't show in my manuals. Ideas? Fluid was below the "cold" mark, going to fill it next.. Thanks.

POST 2Original post

Correct, it is a vent hose that leads nowhere. Item #2 in this drawing. It should be secured to the little bracket in the back of your photo, like this:

Wow! That's an awesome response.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the confirmation and the great photo! I just am wary of unconnected hose and vacuum lines.

POST 5Original post

That line is removed in later versions in place of a cap (e.g. my '04 has a cap without the hose)

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Interesting, mine is an 04 and has the hose. Ok, everybody, go look at your power steering fluit resevoirs and see who has hoses or not.
