Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Intermediate Shaft? My Buddy's car that they though hit something and cracked the case , the dealer is now saying that the Intermediate Shaft broke and it killed the engine Wow , the car only has 50k on it and now it needs a $14k engine job. And just out of warranty. Does this sound right . Has Porsche seen this issue? https://rennlist.com/forums/996-forum/424509-996-question-is-there-a-3-8-upgrade.html

POST 2Original post

Yep - another 3.6 bites the big one. Sorry to hear. C.

POST 3Original post

could you tell if the case was busted from the inside out... if it is the then the IS failed... which is known to do. If the case was damaged outside in, then you hit something.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

No there is no signs from outside the case

POST 5Original post

I was going to say something stupid about, "what's an intermediate shaft? I don't think anyone's heard of that." But I'll refrain... Sorry to hear about your friend's car. If you do some searching, you'll find a wealth of information about engine failures and replacements.

POST 6Original post

up...it happens. his only chance is if the dealer can talk the regional Porsche rep into making it happen. A lot of variables and most likely he will have to bite the big one on this. If he pays find a good indy.
