Now I have to wait.....all day. Then TRY to sleep tonight. Up at 5am tomorrow to catch the early flight. Then a 9-10hr drive. I am buzzing.... C.

POST 2Original post

I know how you feel - did the same (took train though) last December. Forget trying to sleep - won't happen. Isn't it great to feel like a kid? Good luck. Stefan

POST 3Original post

Yup, suffered the same experience when I went just north of Atlanta to pick up my 996, which is my first Porsche. I drove there Friday evening to pick up the car Saturday morning. I could hardly sleep that night. I had to wait for two hours on Saturday morning for the lease check to arrive via UPS. The 4 hour drive home was pure bliss! Will you be taking IH-85? If so and you feel like stopping about half way for a bite to eat, let me know. I am just northwest of Charlotte and I would love to buy you lunch and see your new baby. Let me know if you want to do this.

POST 5Original post

I did a flight to Boston from DC a few months back to pick up my C2. Took my son to look at some colleges while there. It makes for a fun drive home. Congratulations!

Hehehe...tell me about it. Best road trip, car picking up story I have >> The story involves my last 911, the silver one. I was living in the St. Louis metro at the time and bought the car from a very nice dude from Albany, NY. The month? December. The middle of December to be exact. Deal works out and a bud of mine flies up with me and we pick up the car, do the deal and head west across NY towards Erie. Halfway across NY, we start getting snowflakes. SCHIT!!!! By around 8:00pm we hit Erie, PA and we are making great time. My friend tells me this joke, laughing our asses off I look down for a moment...when I look up...there is a 6' strip of tractor-trailer retread in the road sitting up on its edge....in my lane....at 80mph. FOOOOOK!!!!! BLAM! Both of us are DEAD quiet. Listening for anything that could tell us if we ripped off the front oil line or any coolant lines to the engine. Suddenly there is an exit. I veer off and we pull over at a well lit gas station. All you could smell coming off the exhaust was rubber smoke. Two BIG black stripes down each of the mufflers...no damage. WHEW!!! Upon getting home the next day, I found out that the retread broke off the front fascia and I had to get it replaced. And THAT....is the story of how my non-aerokit car became one. That retread freaked the ba-jeezus out of us. Great trip though.... a lot of fun. C.

POST 16Original post

This was my story. I was on ebay the car was justed listed so I called the broker his deal is selling muscle cars. So while I was talking to him I asked him what was the reserve so he told ($41000). So I offered him $39000 he said he would call the seller in the A.M. and give me an answer around 9:00. I could not sleep that night especially if I could get the car for $39K.So at 9:01 I calling him and just getting his VM. Called back at 9:30 again VM. I had to go to a meeting. Around 11:00 I get a call from the broker he spoke to the seller and the seller was debating on letting the auction to go its course 6days and some hours still left at $37000 . So I told him if bid the $41000 would he end the auction he called me back and said yes. So during my meeting I asked my banker if I could jump on her computer she gave me the ok jumped on ebay bid and auction was ended. So around 4:00 I left my office with 1 of my employees drive out there and got out there around 8:00. Shot the s%^t for about and hr and half. One of the nicest guys I ever met he even let keep his tags and drove the car back home. Yes I am impatient!!! Congrats on your purschase!!!!

POST 29Original post

I bought my car in the Chicago area and I live in Vancouver (north of Seattle). I was too busy with work to go pick it up, so my mom and dad flew out and drove it back. My dad even went to the next state to sort out some registration paperwork with a power of attorney form from me. This was in March of this year, and the weather forecast through the rockies was iffy. It was sleeting in Chicago when they left. As it happens they had great weather on the way home, and he kept it below 70 mph all the way. No issues at all. What a champ he was. He was 70 yrs old then, ended up he died unexpectedly in July. At least he got to do a 3000 mile road trip in a Porsche before he went. Nice car by the way Chad. Where's the old one gone?

POST 30 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I don't know. The guy who bought it lives in the Indianapolis area. I know he sold it though. He called me and offered it back to me. Who knows... I hope it has a nice home though. C.
