Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The dealer had mentioned a x51 package for my 2001 c2. he was looking for individual parts to give me the price. suncoast porsche I know its an air box , header and exhaust, anything else? Does anyone have a pic of this kit, apparently the air box is beautiful to see. how much power does it produce. the reason iam looking at this is to keep my warranty with porsche parts. thanks

POST 2Original post

The X51 kit was never marketed in the US for 3.4l cars. As such, it is a real pain in the ***, and nets 20 to 30 hp. You will not likely keep your warranty with it. (Warranty on a 2001?) It does not include an airbox. It does include: Intake Headers Heads Cams & lifters Third radiator kit Oil pump & sump (the motorsports oiling kit) It should include a new map for the DME, but that won't help you if you have a US DME. No part of it is particularly "beautiful to see". I don't recommend it.

POST 3Original post

I believe that there is an X51 kit for the 997 which includes changes to the airbox, headers, etc. Maybe you are referring to that kit? BTW: The X51 kit was like a $17K or $18K option for the 996. My 40th Anniversary has it. Look here for a picture. It is very elaborate: http://pistonheads.com/gassing/topic...=372397&hw=x51

You should re-read my post. Believe me, I know exactly what is involved in the X51 kit for the 3.4l. It absolutely does not include an airbox or PSE.

POST 6Original post

There was a X51 powerkit for the 996 and it bumped hp to 345 from 320. I don't know what it entailed as far as the 996 is concerned. Dave

^^^^ +1, the x51 for the 3.4 doesnt exist in the US.

POST 8Original post

Well, I won't say it doesn't exist... But it certainly wasn't meant to.

That is the kit for the 3.6l, which is marketed in the US and includes the same items I listed above.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok. I thank you for your answers. i appreciate your time. eric

POST 11Original post

This isn't related to the OP's question, but the 996 X51 kit doesn't include the 3rd radiator when installed as a factory option.

Are you referring to the kit for a 3.4l or a 3.6l? I wonder why not?

POST 14Original post

When you purchased the 3.6L kit to install yourself both the third radiator and the oiling kit are optional. I chose the oiling kit but passed on the radiator because I already had it. I paid $7000 for the kit in 2003. Jim

Yeah, wish I could have done that. I have a third radiator in the storage barn.
