Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

19 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Im curious what is considered a 996 unicorn? thanks.

POST 2Original post

12/97 build, slicktop, no options *except* 220, 222, 224 (mechanical LSD), 408 (hollow turbo twist wheels) and in speed yellow.

What would that be worth in pristine condition, low miles? Ballpark

POST 5Original post

Assuming you aren't talking just Carreras, I would think the answer is PTS Clubsport, or PTS GT car.

POST 6Original post

I have one that looks like the one in the English video dont think of it as an Unicorn just kinda unusual 😀 Rich

Do the hollow spoke turbo twists with the 996? I thought they only fit the Turbo 996s.

POST 10Original post

Starting with a ballpark of less than 1 in 50 examples, to be a true unicorn, would mean that there essentially no other cars like it. So 1 in 50, but the 1 has lower mileage or a special option that the other 49 dont have. And it has to have value. Just because someone converted their car to an El Camino in bright pink, doesnt mean its worth $100k If unicorns exist, how many could there be? Im thinking less than 10.

Agree - fewer than 10. I also think "unicorn specification" is less interesting than "unicorn" for example the GT1 Strassenversion. Uniqueness is fine and I appreciate there are people who enjoy having something special that nobody else has but I don't necessarily think having a hot pink 996 makes it a "unicorn."

I have the 408 hollow spoke wheels on my C2. They fit just fine.

POST 16Original post

They are 993 Turbo wheels, not 996 Turbo

This one wins the unicorn award because it has reached heights only a unicorn can reach.
