Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Will the 3.6L exhaust manifolds work on a 3.4L car? I checked and the part numbers are different.

POST 2Original post

I have a set of 3.4 and 3.6 factory manifolds in the garage. They are basically the same pipe size etc except the port openings that mate to the heads are significantly larger on the 3.6 part. Physically they will bolt right up. Todd

POST 3Original post

They are interchangeable with no problems. There's quite a few fellow Rennlisters looking for those cans off the 02-03 engines.

POST 5Original post

Kinda OT but I just got my Suncoast/Evo headers for my 3.6 and the product is amazing! Sounds good and I'm sure I'll get some felt-power once the ECU adapts.

POST 6Original post

Tim: dislexic; can't see; and bad knees. Sorry, but thanx for the mid-course correction.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the reply Todd. Anyone try bolting the 3.6 ones on a 3.4? Just curious.

POST 8Original post

Yep, even bolt right up to a 2.5L boxster engine, although they face the wrong way. Todd

POST 9Original post

Correct, the 3.6 units exhaust manifolds work on the 3.4. Look at some of the header vendors... They actually only have 1 part # for the 3.4 and 3.6. Now another question that I have not been able to find the answer to is whether the 3.8 headers would work on the 3.4 ?

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Any potential performance gain?

POST 11Original post

Doubtful....you may even lose power in some areas of the powerband. Headers usually tune one area of the powerband while losing in other areas...
