As I consider using a C4S as my only car, I need the benefit of some with experience. We rarely get more than 3-4 inch snowfalls, and what we get is delightfully light and powdery. I am confident that the C4S can handle the roads and clearance issues. But before I have an unpleasant surprise next January: Anyone (particularly in the Rockies) have a problem with snow packing the wheel wells? That has happened with our van and sedan, and the tight wheel wells of the Porsche concern me in this regard. Thanks....

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I would think just keeping an eye on it and clearing when necessary would be fine. Here's some pics (not mine) from Camp4S you may enjoy. http://web.mac.com/lygo/iWeb/Site/Finland%20Camp4S.html
Bos nice pics! Just get a set of winter tires and it will take you where you want to go!
Those pics are very interesting. Just what I needed to see. There is a little "coating" around the wheel wells, but it ain't packing in. Thanks.
I drove mine 365 days a yr, all weather, plus track, 64k hard miles. With snow tires it is unbeatable. The only issue I had was when I had the X73 suspension coupled with the oem aerokit, acted like a snow plow!
I drive my 996 all year long (and it is a C2). It perfoms very well in the snow (with 17" Blizzaks). My car rides low (I have the x74 suspension) but I have not had any snow pack or clearance issues. I have driven the car in as much as 8" of snow with no problems.
You don't want MY winter advice
Well, I guess you could tell him you have NEVER had an issue with your C4S in the Winter, but you would have to clarify that by telling him you don't drive it in the Winter. Hell, if you were totally truthful, you'd have to tell him you NEVER drive it, PERIOD.
Give me a call if I can help.
Two winter's experience on Blizzaks, no problems.
Not true - drove it into the garage today to put a coat of Zaino on in prep for Sunday's PCA event at Radnor Hunt. You are prone to exaggeration, Tim.
I have driven 6 winters in my C2. Tried Pirelli but they get very noisy with relatively few miles. Blizzaks are quiet and have superior traction. Refrozen snow that is too deep will crack your plastic undertrays (nothing a zip tie can't cure). Snow does not pack in the fenders as bad as it does no my wifes SUV. The rears are kept clear by the heat of the muffler cans and plastic liners. The fronts stay relatively clear due to yh plastic liners and heat from the radiators. Give your car plenty of time to warm thoroughly before you hit the highway. If the rear spoiler is frozen it can cause damage when it attempts to raise.
OK, maybe I do exaggerate just a LITTLE! But, I have finally figured out your driving pattern. You drive you car on the second Saturday of the month, but only if it is an odd numbered day, in an even numbered month which does not have an "R" in it. So, by my calculations, your are scheduled to drive your car: Satrurday, June 9th and Saturday, August, 11th.
I had 2001 C4 and now a 2004 C4S both of which I drove/drive all year round (2004 now has 53,000 miles and going strong) just need another set of rims mounted with winter tires and you're good to go.
I drive my C4 year round. Only have to watch out for snow depth.
Winter for my C4 was great. It's loads of fun to drive on hardpack snow roads in a C4. If you get stuck, remember that switching PSM off helps to get out. Other notes: -Spring melt is terrible - slush and muck - avoid it if you can. -My C4 can handle 6 - 8 inches deep, any more snow and it's time to think it over. -I have Pirelli SnowSports and they are great
Sounds like a bad date I had a while back.
