Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have noticed that the 2nd to 3rd shift at high rpm's in my car sometimes grinds, also there is a lot of side-to-side play in the shifter in 3rd gear. Dealer has the car now and says that they could only replicate difficulty with 1 in 10 shifts or so, the car only has 3900 miles so I am hoping it's not a major problem. The dealer said they had an email into Porsche about possible adjustments that could be made, any advice or similar experiences?

POST 2Original post

Grinding would unlikely be a symptom of a bad shifter but of poor clutch engagement or syncro/gear problem.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

yeah, the thing is, the clutch still feels good... Is it common for the shifter to have a lot of side-to-side play in 3rd gear?
