Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My car is at a Porsche shop having the oiled changed and I was told that the engine in it was not the original. I bought my car six months ago from a different Porsche dealer (CPO) who never said anything about it to me. Should I be happy, sad, or angry about this? At the very least I would just like to know why and when it happened.

Brandywine Porsche near Philly

POST 4Original post

You should be happy, but disappointed in the dealer for not disclosing. You are far better off with a factory reman than you woudl be with an original trouble prone 3.4.

POST 5Original post

It should not bother you. Your engine is younger than your car. Enjoy......

POST 6Original post

reman engines are built with all new parts and all the updates, you should be thrilled

POST 7Original post

You're all assuming that this was an official engine swap - by Porsche.... Given the lack of disclosure at time of purchase - this may very well not be the case. In which case.......

POST 8Original post

I just found out the same thing about my 04 C4S. I took it into the dealer for a service and had them pull ALL the records on the car to reveal this. I am actually happy about for the same reasons stated here. Mine was done at the P dealer and under the warranty. It had a cam shaft idler problem and so as noted all the upgrades and improvements are documented with the new mill. Don't worry mon - be hoppy!!
