I am in the market for a new set of tires, both front and rear, for a 996 with 18" wheels. Decided on the Continental ContiSportContact 2 after reading a few reviews some time ago. Then I realize the brand new Conti SC3 may be even better. Has anyone had the opportunity to try them out? How about Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 which is also very popular in this board? Thank you for any feedback.
Conti 2's are excellent. However, I had huge availability problems due to the switch to C3's.
You wont get the PS2 in 285s for the rears. Not available. My number one recommendation are the Mich Pilot Sport Rib.
I haven't tried anything other than the Pilots. The car's previous owner had them on there and they handled great so I went with another set to try them from new. Harsh, loud, grippy. These are how I view these tires but I don't know how Conti's or P-zeros compare yet. I love these tires in the wet. Big surprise as to how well they handle. I don't get that feeling from my other cars and they have Pilots as well.
