So I went from looking for a 993 to some 996's and have come across an 03 996 that I will drive tomorrow. Let me say up front, I would not buy any pcar without a PPI, and would have one done. I won't actually see the car until tomorrow, but here is some scoop. Thought I would share with the group for suggestions/comments. The car has 75k miles, single owner, some small dings/scratches but good carfax, all maint. done at Porsche dealer. The dealer extended the warranty to 100k and two more years since the car is on its fifth (yup fifth) tipronic trans. The current one has been in over a year (I think). Owner seems very forthcoming, also the 75k service is due, and cat may need replacement. I was not looking for tips at all but this car interests me due to the price. He wants payoff amount only which is less than $35k. Now, granted, I will probably hold out for a manual trans since people I trust have told me, get exactly what you want or you will regret it. But, that said, does this price seem correct for the miles? Again, all history is available, one owner daily driver, will see and take pix tomorrow. Comments from the gallery are appreciated. Oh yeah, if you have a blue cab for sale in socal, send me a message. 94prez

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Hi....I've been shopping these for months. Price of 35 or 36K sounds sbout right for the this car....a little less possibly. The warranty certainly adds extra. but that car is swiftly approaching the 100K mark.....but I would shop for the 6 speed as well. Tips def. go for less in the market. Once that car hits 90K miles...it's gonna nose dive on the price. Will fall into the high 20's. Best of luck in your shopping. I can't imagine why that car would go through so many transmissions.
Good point. It just seemed a little low to me, but you are right, 75k will be 100k in no time. I guess I like the fact that it was one owner, which has been tougher to find. That, and I just could not imagine having a porsche without a handshaker. I am sure tips have there place, and make drinking coffee and chatting on the phone easier - but I think I would regret it.
Just drove the car. Not impressed. Some dings and scratches and well worn. Bent rim. Noisy cat. Discolored front light lens. And just don't want a tip, although I can see why people like em.
