Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

19 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

coming from years of air cooled PCars this is a sweettt ride.

POST 3Original post

the eyelids look HORRIBLE - as bad or worse than any civic with a huge picnic bench or a reg 5 series shaved with an M5 badge

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Jacksonking ! A couple of my past air cooled pcars... And one Jacuzzi cooled pair as well

POST 7Original post

[QUOTE= A couple of my past air cooled pcars...[/QUOTE] The 996 looks great, but there is something about those air cooled pcars that makes them stand out. Were any of the air-cooled cars turbos? Please post likes and dislikes between the two types. Enjoy the new ride...

The Red 87 Coupe, bought with 27 miles on it in 87...Cherry was her name. Sold at 114k in 2000 to fund my startup. Totally bone stock. Mostly fun but sometimes a daily driver. A classic hang out the rear end drivers car. Old school analog. After awhile there were many ordinary Asian and euro sedans that could spank it but this car always got major respect. People viewed it with really ... reverence... almost. It really fit the image of the iconic 80's Porsche. I did a few driving schools and mostly just hauled *** around locally. Never a problem with anything ever. Period. When she drove away with her new owner my son and I stood in the driveway and cried. Penny, the copper coupe. A freaking beast. Bad *** pit-bull of a car. Loud nasty trailing throttle overseer nearly 440 NA HP. wicked wicked bad. Play toy for a couple years. I put major $$ into the suspension and used it to cut traffic like a hot knife in butter. A street weapon. Humiliated many many motorcycles and every single car I street raced against. Standing start rolling start, no stock 911 Turbo ever came close. Sometimes I would get out at home in the driveway and would be shaking from the adrenaline pump...holy cow batman. No tickets in the past 7 years but I needed a commute daily car. So the 996. A stock tip. Quiet, conservative non boy racer long distance commuter. Very linear smooth no need to downshift in normal traffic. Very "digital" feeling. Smooth, modern comfortable. No harsh edge, all polished smooth gentleman like. No bark some real bite but in a tailored suit kind of way. The girls? B and D. I call them my twins. I would post more pics of that evening but I'd get banned

Penny -- spectacular... I make the I-4 nightmare drive on Fridays to Celebration to pick up my 9-year-old son. This weekend will be his first time at Sebring and he is fired up! I hope he falls in love with performance cars. Analog rocks.

POST 10Original post

sweet pair........ the porsche's aren't bad either.......

POST 12Original post

Nice car - nice to see someone else with the same headlight treatment.

POST 13Original post

Sounds like you'll miss your old cars, but this one should help you get by!!

POST 14Original post

the eyelids had to go. not my taste. But i could sell them if anyone is interested.

POST 15Original post

Congrats, is a beauty as were your previous rides. The analog digital analogy is a good one. Enjoy in good health.

POST 16Original post

Very nice! Love the story about your two air cooled cars. You remind me of why I kept my air cooled beauty after I bought the 996.

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I've been lurking for a while. As a long time Pelicanite the scoop on you 996/997 guys... is this is a non DIY snooty checkbook flashing wine and cheese crowd. Definitely not the case IMHO. Ive done my 60k service from the tips here and learned as much in a short time as I did also on the Pelican board. A great resource thank you.

Nothing, but I don't he is talking about the cheese in a can that you spray on the crackers!
