Guys Advice needed. I've been looking for a 996 TT for a while. One car has come up but it has 34K miles on a November 2003 plate. The car is in good condition from a dealer...not OPD. The spec is 09991 manufacture from the exclusive-programme 375 Clutch lining without asbestos 375 996: Color coded seat backs 440 Manual antenna, 4 speakers 567 Windshield green graduated tint 650 Sunroof 666 Telephone module C16 UK LUX spec: tinted windows, metallic paint, and a few other goodies. X70 Metal Door Sill with Insignia X71 Aluminum Instrument Dials X97 Aluminium/leather shift **** X98 Aluminium/leather parking break handle The mileage is about 12K a year and it has just been serviced by a Official Porsche centre. I will ring tomorrow to get the details from the service centre. One slight hiccup is that one of the two previous owners had it's 24K service at a porsche specialist not a OPD. (Muppet) The price is slightly lower due relatively high mileage for a porsche (these car's are supposed to be driven!!!) and the hiccup in the full OPD service. Thoughts????

I would (i) hold out for a clutch with asbestos and (ii) post on the 996 Turbo board. [The asbestos comment is a joke, by the way]
Thanks!! Posted on the 996TT forum too. I wanted to gauge your opinion on the mileage bit. Cheers
Just speaking for me, I would not be bothered by the mileage in the least. I think it better that a car be driven regularly. As to the service history, if the service was done at a reputable shop knowledgeable in Porsche service, that would not bother me either. It is nice!
i like it and i agree with DCP.... as long as there's a good history, do a good PPI on it and if you can get a third party warr. i think it's good that the car was driven with the intent of driving it.......... i like it......
34K miles even on a November '03 Porsche is nothing to worry about.
I would reconsider buying this car... I don't know if you noticed but in the pictures it looks like the steering wheel is on the wrong side of the car. Seriously, I wouldn't worry about the mileage too much, but then again I can't say I have a good grasp of the factors affecting resale values in the UK.
The mileage is not high. Since I don't know the "in service" date I can only guess that the car is approximately 3.5 years old, so that equates to 9,714 miles per year. If it was an early '03 car then it is 4 years old and 8,500 miles per year. Nice looking Turbo! BUY IT before someone else does!
paper wise... the car looks good....... i don't know about the pics though...
34K on a 2003 car is high??!!... Are you kidding me?...I think that's quite low frankly. Do a PPI and if it checks out, BUY IT! It looks terrific.
Thanks for all the advice guys!
I'm with the other guys - I wouldn't sweat the mileage (especially if it is reflected in the price) and having the service done at a non-OCD doesn't concern me either (assuming of course that the shop didn't drop it off of the lift). Hey - if what we Americans call an elevator is called a lift in the UK, then what do you call the thing that raises a vehicle in the garage for service? Oh, and it's a really nice color too. Sorry - edit: It's a really nice colour. Michael
Thanks for your advice guys, it's much appreciated. Now the owner of two seal grey 911's ...errr...well temporarily anyway. Take delivery of an 03 996TT next week. Managed to haggle it down a few K$ too which is always a bonus. Time to prepare the advert for the 03 C2 now...going to miss that sports exhaust P.S. If you know anybody that wants a mint 31K miles '03 C2 in the Manchester Area (UK) drop us a PM!
