Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi everyone, I joined rennlist in January as a member (after lurking for a loooong time) and briefly introduced myself at that time as a "future" owner- Thanks for the welcomes! Well, I just took posession of my first 911 - a 2000 996 cab. It was about a week of sleepless nights waiting for the inspection and delivery. Weather here is miserable, it's been below zero almost every day and we just got several inches of snow - I can't even clean my new car, much less get too much time behind the wheel. I enjoy detailing (therapy) almost as much as driving. I have owned a 944 Turbo back in the early 90's and have always wanted a 911, and have so for at least 20 yrs. (not to say I didn't love the 944T). Back during this time, all my friends, and even my dad, were corvette guys, while I was the lone p-car. To each their own, but none seemed to have the passion that I had, and still have, and that is one of the main reasons I joined rennlist (not to mention the tech info and cool pics!). My wife loves the car (thinks I may be a little too passionate about a car, but she's very happy for me) and my daughter (16mo) always smiles when I take her into the garage just to say hello to the new family member. Anyway, enough rambling, but I am thouroghly excited and if there is any group that would understand, it's here - so here are some pics of my new to me 996. Options include litronic headlights w/washers, CD/HiFi sound/DSP and CD Changer, soft look leather, power seats w/lumbar, and turbo twist rims w/painted crest.

DFC, Fantastic looking '00 you got there. I have the same year and interior color. Let the upgrades begin... 1st of course are the side markers. Happy wheelin' when the weather clears. RB

POST 3Original post

Nice! Not only is the leather soft look, it IS soft (supple, that is)! Warranty? PPI? RMS? IMS? Every time I convince myself to get an '02, I go back to loving the earlier headlight shape!

POST 4Original post

andy, i have an 01 a. silver, with xenon. if you buy a 02+, let me know so we can swap.

POST 7Original post

Sweet ride man. Good luck with it. Yea snow SUXXXXXXXXXXX

POST 9Original post

congrats and welcome.... now go out and drive her....

POST 10Original post

Great looking car DFC. Guards red with a beige interior is a classic color combo! Spring is around the corner.

POST 11Original post

Welcome to Rennlist and Congrats on getting a very nice looking P-car! Thanks for the intro and the pic! Well done! The "newbies" really are starting to get it!

POST 12Original post

Nice car! congrats! Glad to see you didnt cave in to vette croud!

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank's all! To answer some of the questiions, I did have a PPI which turned up a few minor needs which the dealer agreed to fix (except for the visor lights which I didn't consider a deal breaker). No RMS (knock on wood). Before the mods, I need to take care of a few cosmetic issues like the seat belt latches (one sticks and both fronts are faded - replacements in route) and headlight washers. I have already ordered a new cdr-220 faceplate as the original has a dead spot in the lcd (works fine, but I need eveything just right). Oh yeah, just got my bumper plugs also. I haven't decided on replacing the orange side markers, if my car was any other color that would have been the first mod, but I think the orange compliments the red nicely. if anyone has a pic of guards red with the clear/smoked markers, I would love to see pics. Thanks again.

POST 14Original post

Congrats - great car! Did it come with a hard top for those long Michigan winters? When the mods begin, a gaurds red rear console would be stunning.

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks! Did not come with a hard top, which is just as well, plowing is non existent here, and without a C4, it won't be out unless it's dry. I have been debating between an alumilook or a guards red console, I have to find some pics!

POST 16Original post

Very nice! Congratulations!! I love that interior color too. I just wish Porsche would make the top of the dash black to avoid the glare on the wind shield. Welcome to the best porsche board in the planet!
